Pinoy Big Brother housemate Franzen is set to be evicted this Saturday, November 19, 2005. This forced eviction is in accordance with the Pinoy Big Brother House Rules that Franzen has blatantly violated repeatedly in the past few days and weeks of the program.

Fellow Housemate Cass earlier volunteered to be evicted instead, and this prompted voting between the two.

But since Franzen repeatedly made violations again, even after Big Brother's warnings, the show's producers (on direction of Endemol, the owners of the Big Brother franchise) decided to automatically evict Franzen.

In tonight's show, host Toni Gonzaga explained the mechanics and the reasons behind this automatic eviction. She also responded to the speculations that the voting process for this week's eviction is rigged and only a money-making scheme.

Toni stressed that of the PhP 2.50 per text message that a voter pays, the telcos get 70% share of the SMS-vote revenues, while Endemol gets 10%, the content provider gets 10%, and Pinoy Big Brother only gets the remaining 10%, for a total of about PhP 37,000.00 this week. This amount is to be donated to a Church in Cubao, Quezon City, whose parish priest says mass at the Pinoy Big Brother House every Sunday.

Toni also explained that at this point, Cass garnered more than 70% of the votes, so it is indicative anyway that the audience prefers Cass to stay.

Personally, this author thinks Franzen had a very good chance of winning the game. He has consistently gathered the greatest share in votes. But he has lost the chance because of his stubbornness.

Heartthrob Sam Milby is the fifth Pinoy Big Brother Housemate to be evicted. Jason, the other nominee for the week, prevailed by a very slim lead. Jason got 53.8%, while Sam 46.2%.

Actually, while it may be "Goodbye, Sam" for the Pinoy Big Brother Housemates, fans are looking forward to seeing more of him on Philippine TV. He guested on ASAP '05 to sing "Wherever you will go" (by the Calling). He was also interviewed on The Buzz, to answer Pinoy Big Brother-related intrigues (like the one about Sam and Chx together in the bathroom, and the one about his fooling around with Say).

Word has it that Sam will soon be a regular of ASAP!

Serious Jericho Rosales and Heart Evangelista fans will surely love this. ABS-CBN's Ang Panday will start airing on Monday, November 9, 2005.

Jericho Rosales will be in the title role of Flavio, the blacksmith who forges a magical dagger from metal from a meteor that fell from the sky. The dagger would grow to the length of a sword whenever Flavio raises it up to the sky.

The series co-stars Heart Evangelista, Philip Salvador, Rommel Montano, Neri Naig, Victor Neri, and Derek Ramsey.

Who is Panday?

Flavio's sword/dagger can cut through anything without resistance. It also hums when danger threatens (maybe much like Frodo Baggins' Sting, which lights up when Orcs are around.).

One night, a meteor (bulalakaw) fell from the sky. He used the metal from the meteor to fashion a dagger. The dagger would magically grow to become a sword when he raised it up and pointed it to the sky.

"Panday" literally means "the blacksmith", Ang Panday is the TV adaptation of the hit Fernando Poe Jr. movie-series Ang Panday that lorded the silverscreens during the early 1980s. It is about a blacksmith who made an enchanted sword that gives him special powers to embattle the dark forces.

Synopsis

A meteor crashes into the desert of Sto. Sepulcro. Flavio, the panday of the community, forges a dagger and a churchbell from the remains of the meteor. He uses the dagger to fight off the Sombra Oscura, the minions of evil, who constantly attacks the town. By some mystical power, the dagger of Panday transforms into a great sword every time he wields it in defense of the people of Sto. Sepulcro.

In his final battle against evil, he Panday faces off against Lizardo, the son of the devil and the leader of the Sombras. The battle is intense, but, in the end, Panday is able to vanquish his mortal foe.

Having saved Sto. Sepulcro, Flavio decides to give up his sword. H goes to the church and casts his fabled weapon into the bell he also made. A white light then shoots out from the sky, and it lifts up Panday into the heavens.

The people of Sto. Sepulcro rejoice now that Panday has brought them peace. Unbeknownst to them, the Sombras discover that there is a part of Lizardo that is still alive - his brain.

In order to bring him back to life, they must transcend time and space to look for the girl who can resurrect their master.

Interesting information

The late Fernando Poe, Jr., considered to be a great pillar of Philippine Cinema, and a contender in the 2004 Presidential elections, played the starring role of Flavio in the silver screen during the 1980's.
